How will I get my UEN?

No notification mail will be sent to businesses and local companies registered with ACRA as there is no change in their identification numbers.

Other than businesses and local registered companies which will retain their ACRA registration numbers as their UEN, all other registered entities will be informed of their UEN via post directly by the government agencies that register or oversee them (known as UEN Issuance Agencies) . This is scheduled to be carried out from August to October 2008. The list of UEN Issuance Agencies and the entity-types under their charge can be found here.

If you are a new entity that is formed from 1 January 2009, you will be given an UEN at registration. You do not need to apply for UEN separately.

What do I need to do to prepare for UEN implementation before 1 January 2009?

If you are a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP), you are required by legislation to display your LLP registration number on your official stationery. Hence you will need to change this number to UEN at your next print of the stationery or by 1 January 2010, whichever is earlier.

UEN replaces all other identification numbers issued to entities by different government agencies. If you use these identification numbers to identify your customers, you may wish to consider updating your customer databases with UEN. You can request for conversion data here to convert these identification numbers to UEN. The conversion data provide a one-to-one match between existing identification numbers and UEN.
